Las Palmas Airport in the Canary Islands is situated on Gran Canaria close to the islands capital. It is the fifth busiest in Spain processing over ten million customers in 2008. It operates out of one building with three terminals inside. All EU traffic uses the larger Terminal A while Terminal B and C caters for inter island and non EU travel.

All arriving traffic enters into the same Arrivals hall where onward travel can be found. Cheap car hire at Las Palmas Airport Gran Canaria (LPA) is sited in Arrivals. The airport has 2,140 car parking spaces of which 37 are reserved for disabled passengers. Payment machines for parking are located on the upper and lower levels of the car park.

Full passenger services are available with a bank on the ground floor opening from 08:00 to 14:15. ATMs are found across the airport as are bureau de change for foreign currency exchange. Cheap car hire at Las Palmas Airport Gran Canaria (LPA) is sited in Arrivals with a wide selection of international brands found.

There are several coffee shops on both levels of the airport. An internet shop is located on the upper level after passport control. There are a broad range of shops which include; sportswear, jewellery and cosmetics, pharmaceutical, souvenir, toys and games and the normal duty free offering.

Budget car rental desks are positioned in Arrivals and are a good alternative to public transport. Taxis are sited outside of the main building and have fixed fares to common areas on the island. Most towns on Gran Canaria have a bus service to the airport.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?
