The London Borough of Lewisham lies in the southeast of the city, below the River Thames. It is a big, fairly well-off suburb and also a transport hub for those travelling into the city from the South-East, or those accessing the rest of the country.

Lewisham is conveniently located on the A20 road to Dover, giving commuters access to the coast and the ferries linking it to Calais on the French side.
