Location information for Guernsey Airport

Guernsey Airport is the primary airport servicing the island of Guernsey. It is right on the English Channel. The airport is only three miles from the island's capital, called St Peter Port. In 2008 Guernsey almost reached one million passengers for the first time, but fell short by about 40,000. Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is easy and affordable.

Although the airport is relatively small, GCI has most of the services and facilities that you would expect in a modern international airport. Currently, the runways here are tarmac. This is a significant improvement from simpler times when they were made of grass and gravel. The runway is approximately one mile in length and is used by European airlines. The majority of flights go to destinations around the UK, with a handful of flights to western European spots.

Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is probably the best way to get around in Guernsey. There are some remarkable spots to see on the island and taking a car around the picturesque Guernsey roads is a very nice way to take in the sights. The island also has few buses and no trains or subways. Taxis are expensive and often unavailable.

The old terminal was demolished in May of 2004 to make room for aircraft stands and a passenger walkway. Construction on a new terminal building began in 2002 and finished on 19 of April in 2004. This was used as an upgrade to the new terminal. The new terminal can now handle about 1.25 million passengers each year.
