Everything was very straightforward, I was asked to buy additional insurance by Avis for breakdown etc, so it would have been useful to understand this wasn't included in the quoted price - if it was stated it wasn't obvious. It would be useful for you or the rental companies to provide more information on how pick up and drop offs work at the specific airports. Finding the drop off place a San Francisco was not great, as the address stated and google maps puts them in slightly different places - and the attendant joked that finding the garage wasn't easy.

O'Hare Airport is also known as ORD. The airport is situated to the northwest of the city by about 20 miles. The airport is a major hub for flights coming through and stopping in the United States. It was recently honoured by winning a vote as the ‘Best Airport in North America'. The poll was taken by international travellers. Cheap car hire at O'Hare Airport is convenient and widely available.

O'Hare Airport contains three different bustling domestic terminals with one central international terminal (Terminal 5). Only Terminal 5 carries the title of ‘international terminal', but all three domestic terminals are prepared for international flight connection. A fourth terminal for domestic use is under construction.

ATMs are easily reached at locations around the terminal. Currency exchange desks are available in many locations throughout. If you care to ship any mail, there is an area for posting. Budget car rental, clothing shops, leather goods stores, newsagents and golf, jewellery and sunglasses shops as well as duty-free shops are all easy to find.

The Chicago Transit Authority has trains from the airport to town. Trains can be boarded at the bottom of the parking garage below the airport. The train station is near the airport and can easily be walked to from most terminals. Terminal 5 is a bit further. You can get there by yourself using pedestrian tunnels.

Cheap car hire at O'Hare Airport (ORD) is readily available in every terminal at the airport. The budget car rental process is expedient. Car hire is a reasonably cheap way to get around Chicago and throughout the greater United States.
